  • Planning District Commission
    • Created by the Commonwealth of Virginia, the County of Accomack and the County of Northampton and joined by the Town of Chincoteague, the A-NPDC is the Eastern Shore of Virginia’s regional organization. Tasked with supporting local planning and community development efforts and providing technical assistance on behalf of the Commonwealth, the A-NPDC focuses on diverse issues of regional importance to the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
  • Regional Housing Authority
    • Created by the County of Accomack and the County of Northampton, the Authority is tasked with providing safe, sanitary and affordable housing to low income residents of the Eastern Shore. The A-NRHA focuses on developing rental housing and manages the regional Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Authority also owns several apartment complexes and continues work to provide a sufficient number of attractive and affordable rental units.
  • Housing Alliance
    • The Alliance is a non-profit Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO). The Alliance focuses on preparing Eastern Shore residents for the responsibilities of homeownership. The Alliance also continues its vital work in reconstructing and rehabilitating houses that have no indoor plumbing.
Welcome. This is the official site of the Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission, the Accomack-Northampton Regional Housing Authority and the Eastern Shore of Virginia Housing Alliance. These three regional entities provide planning, community development and housing services to Accomack County, Northampton County, the Town of Chincoteague and the incorporated towns on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Eastern Shore of Virginia Selected as a Stronger Economies Together Region

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development and Virginia Cooperative Extension have announced that two Virginia regions were selected for the 2015-16 Stronger Economies Together (SET) initiative. The Eastern Shore, consisting of Accomack and Northampton counties and Tangier Island, and the Mount Rogers Planning District, made up of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe counties and the cities of Bristol and Galax, will benefit from a focused initiative to explore regional economic advantages and to formulate economic blueprints for the regions.

We need your help. A-NPDC Regional Plan – Survey Available Until September 15, 2015. 8/14/15 Update Now Included

The Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission (A-NPDC) is in the midst of collecting feedback from the people of the Eastern Shore for the Regional Plan. This plan, once adopted, will govern the actions of the A-NPDC. Staff have designed a short survey (approximately 10 questions, many with simple answers) with four open ended questions about your ideas. The results will be fed into a system that will be searched for common themes so that the A-NPDC can concentrate our work on things that unite us.
